Dry forest in Bolivia are located in three main areas of the country: 1 Interandean dry forests: Deciduous
dry forests, chaparral and shrubs from NW to southern Bolivia, then continues to Argentina (from 500-3,300 m); they include the Prepuna. Mostly very fragmented and/or strongly disturbed. Different formations and floristic types; important forests of natural potential vegetation, especially mixed forests. 2 Chiquitano semideciduous and Cerrado forests (E Bolivia) and mostly related to the Cerrado biogeographic region (300-1,200 m) in rocky outcrops and undulating plains of the Precambrian Shield.

It also presents savannas and formations on well-drained soils where fire is a modeling factor of the landscape, as well as
a marked seasonal regime. 3 Dry Chaco and Serrano Chaco forests (300-600 m) to S-SE Bolivia with low forests, thorny thickets and dry savannas. Mostly in an alluvial plain, with hills and mountainous areas of sandy to clayey soil; the dry season lasts 4-8 months.
